My biggest gripe with this is Bairstow wasn't trying to gain any advantage in play. He scratched his foot to mark his crease and went to speak to Stokes at the end of the over. This wasn't some mankad situation. Yes he possibly did it too quickly but you see that thousands of times in county cricket with no one trying stumpings.
In Careys defence he threw the ball a split second before Bairstow stepped away but really and truthfully Cummings should have withdrawn the appeal. By not doing so he's opened his team up for some flak.
Caught the end of a talksport interview with an aussie ex cricketer (I missed His name) and he said the older cricket fans in Aus felt it wasn't in the spirit of the game and has tainted the victory whereas the younger fans think it was the right thing to do.
It's going to add some serious spice to the next test and I can see Bairstow and Broad definitely trying to even up the score with something similar now.
