The cup was clearly not a priority and that’s fair enough.

I would love to win the cup, I’d swap it for promotion without blinking, but that’s not the reality of what we’re facing.  I don’t believe anyone expects us to compete at the top end of the PL but what the PL gives the club is £££, which in turn gives us better players. The best chance of us winning a cup is by being in the PL.    

To all the “How many teams” questions I’ll ask this - How many non PL teams have won either the FA or league cup?  Football, sadly, has changed and the old era of the cup relying on a bit of luck and a favourable draw has all but diminished.

I think the most frustrating part of our time in the PL is the years we were safe and still picked weak teams.  They really were the missed opportunities.

Exactly, excellent summing up regarding what I was saying, and yes it was very tiring and an exercise in futility regarding your first sentence.
