I've got a Garmin Forerunner 245.
I bought a reconditioned one for £100 with a 12 month warrantee. It was either from an Amazon or eBay shop.
Had only planned to use it for a year to see how I got on, but nearly 3 years on, it has been very reliable.
Has the occasion issue finding GPS, but I think that's more down to my location.
Although, I'm tempted to trade up for one that can download GPX files so I can test out new routes when I'm away.
I sometimes create routes via mapmyrun or scrape .gpx files from trailforks etc. Download them and then email them to myself. Then open with my phone which automatically opens the said route within my Garmin Connect app and from there, I'm able to send the route to my watch and use it for navigation. Pretty sure you can still do that with a 245.
How good are the apple watches for GPS? I run the same route for 5/10k but my
iPhone X seems to go a bit off course from time to time.
GPS watches are all well and good to give you a fairly accurate distance and route but that's it.
I regularly run with mates on a narrow course and out watches all beep for miles/ kilometres at different intervals and end up with quite different distances when we finish.
One mate told me to leave my watch on a table outside, start it and check the distance after a few hours - my garden bench 'ran' nearly 300m in 4 hours!

All mine (Garmin 735XT) does now is tell me how crap and slow I have gotten!
