Just wasn’t enjoying it and almost 40 years of gaming have taught me that there’s no shame in walking away from something you’re not enjoying.
Started playing Returnal on PS+, didn’t buy it when it came out as I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy it or not but am very much enjoying it so far.
Is that the game where the character dies, and you play the same level over and over, but it's somehow different?
If I'm right, I recall looking at this when it came out, and was intrigued at the concept.
I've just started the Miles Spider-Man game(downloadable content!). I played the main game and loved it.
The gameplay is as good as I recall. Smooth and satisfying Spidery combat, and swinging around the city is bloody fun.
Sounds like you're thinking of Returnal. That game makes Elden Ring seem easy... Returnal seriously did my head in. Elden Ring stays the same all the way through, you learn, you improve, you learn, you improve... Returnal, you do well, you die, you get a different set up and lose any progress at all... Made it to second boss on Returnal, completed Elden Ring (on last boss on a NG+ play through too)
I love roguelites, Hades is one of my favourite games of recent years, and am enjoying Returnal so far. I know you lose your gear every time you die but I always feel I get a little better on each run.
Found Elden Ring to be completely impenetrable. Combat was too hard, lore was baffling and I spent most of my time with it without a clue what I was doing.
It does intrigue me, the way we all like different things, and how we view the same things so differently
Guess it would be boring otherwise. I just didn't get the hype around Returnal (even though I did pay for it and sunk loads of hours in), how it won game of the year and stuff is beyond me. Run, shoot, die....lose the good guns... I'd have loved to have beat the second boss, but just couldn't quite do it, I believe the third level is a sort of lifeline where you start from that with better gear, but may be wrong.
