Feeling absolutely wiped out tonight, that was without doubt the hardest run I’ve ever done. First proper race in 3 years and I’m starting to accept that my days of going under 2 hours for a half might be behind me.
Don't write yourself off. It's a funny sport. A bit of consistent training and times absolutely tumble.
I was injured this time last year, I couldn't walk a mile. Now I'm fast over every distance that I ever have been.
Last proper race I ran before yesterday was the 2019 London Marathon when I was 37. I’m 40 now and not sure whether it’s the extra years, the lack of practice, general loss of fitness and sleeping far less than I used to (probably all of the above), but it really knocked me for six yesterday. Woke up still feeling it this morning.
Had already booked to run the Hackney Half in May, going to do that and if I don’t enjoy that either then I think I might knock racing on the end and just go back to shorter, more casual, running.
