Can I hazard a guess at what you would have said if these hadn't been put in place and the situation escalated to such a point to which all the beds in those hospitals were necessary?
They were necessary, they never had the staff to run them. This was known at all levels but ignored for a PR stunt. Hospitals had to use non-respiratory and non-ICU wards to find beds for covid patients meaning other treatments had to be postponed. My niece was in Walsgrave after a big car accident at the start of that year and had to be sent home early to get beds available. Let's not rewrite history or forget what a shambles we were in at the start of 2020.
