Come on, that's hardly the same thing is it? I AM a very professional person when I deal with clients, I don't pretend to be one. So it's not a persona in the sense of "portraying yourself."

I am a professional person when dealing with clients to. That doesn’t mean we don’t put on an act / adjust our responses to the circumstances. Comedians are not always the same on and off stage, salesmen use charm (well some do) to secure sales when they are charmless wazzocks when the deal is done and the client walks out the door. They are all acts. This place is a rude, cliquey petty sniping type of place and was long before I joined and I reply accordingly. My football and political POV are the same on and off here but how I express them to others away from here is a lot softer and considered than on here.

Well that's you. And fair enough. But you were trying to say above that EVERYONE pretends to be different online. I don't. I'm a loud, mouthy, foul-mouthed very opinionated person in real life too. Those that know me will no doubt testify to that.
