When Moore was sacked after we had drew at home to bottom place Ipswich, following meek defeats to Leeds and Sheffield Utd, we had 61 points after 36 games and were 9 points behind second placed Leeds. We were also 7 points behind Sheffield in 3rd and only 3 points ahead of Middlesbrough who were in 5th. Middlesbrough (and Bristol in 7th) had a game in hand on us and Derby in 6th were narrowing the gap. Our position and form at that stage had caused our play-off position to become genuinely under-threat.
Moore had also had 8 matches with his January signings but form was only getting worse. Bilic so far has had 3 matches with his January incomings and only Robinson played in the first of those.
Also, Moore only lost Barnes in January, while Bilic lost Grady in early December, so he even suffered a greater handicap than Moore on losing crucial players at key times of the season.
Not small margins at all when it comes to their respective performances, all things considered.
