Keir Starmer was accosted by "protesters" outside The Houses of Parliament this afternoon, shouting "Jimmy Saville". Starmer had to be rescued and driven away by police and two protesters were arrested.
This is on Johnson. Just like in The US, under Trump, the far right lunatics are emboldened by the lies of our glorious leader.

And even in his comments on the incident he's still too cowardly to apologise for his allegations regarding Saville.
Not surprising, given his comments about Jo Cox after her murder, but still disgraceful. The longer the Tories fail to act and get this man of of Number 10 the more they tie their brand to this disgraceful politics as the Republicans did with Trump. He seems to be one of those people who can never admit to being wrong, much like Trump could never accept being a loser; as Derek says, they are of the same cloth.

And does that cover making up lies about political opponents that are being used as terms of abuse towards said opponent by extremists and refusing to retract and apologise for making that statement?
Might be time to get a "whoosh" out.

Those of us who remember him as a liberal internationalist (he was you know) can only despair at the descent of Boris Johnson. I can only concur with those beginning to compare him with Trump. There is a key difference - Boris is desperate to by liked, it's this desperation that is seeing him cling to office in the hope of public redemption when it's obvious to everyone around him (save Suzanne Webb and Nadine Dorries) that his time is up.
It says much about the weakness of the Cabinet that no-one appears to be willing to insert the knife and give it a twist. It would be blessing for us all, and ultimately for Johnson. He could return to the media where popularity and humour trumps competence.

Unfortunately the 'descent' is a viewpoint because it is becoming obvious to some what has been obvious to a lot of people for a very long time. The difference being that his lies and wrecking ball approach to politics only damaged things that some wanted in the past so his lies suited them. Now that they have continued into the wider Tory world and are tainting everything he touches and potentially damaging the whole Party with longstanding consequences.
The problem the Tory Party now has is that even if a vote of no confidence is triggered, because of such a large number of MPs in parliament there are a lot that owe him their seat and will probably not vote against him. That gives him another 12 months to cover those around him in more shit that will stink the Party out for years.
The theory that the Tory party would move him aside at the right time to give them time to rebuild and replace him with someone more palatable is looking a bit troubled at this point. A confidence vote that fails now takes him into 2023 and with May 2024 being the latest he can call an election it doesn't give much time for the party to regroup, and it does give a lot of time for this wrecking ball to do more damage.
He could turn it around, he could be cleared of all wrongdoing in partygate, he could avoid any more scandals that come virtually weekly at the moment, Brexit could turn out to be a massive success. Or he could just continue to do what he has done his entire life, and lie and cheat and claim his birthright and refuse to admit responsibility and he could damage the Party beyond repair and unfortunately the country with them.
This isn't a descent, this is how it has always been with him. 3 wives including one he left when she had cancer, multiple affairs, multiple children, scandals left right and centre, 'mini-trump', sacked from any real job he has had, lies, lies and more lies. If you've only just realised this is how he has been then you have been duped big time.

Absolutely, he's still not apologised for conspiring to beat up a journalist. His time as Mayor of London was spent funnelling taxpayer money into vanity projects and his mates. His time as Foreign Secretary was a complete disaster and he's still not tried to rectify his comments that got Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe deeper in the shit.
He's always been like this. It was patently obvious that it was going to be like this with him in power but some people were too blinded over a single issue to do anything about it.

I'm amazed that anyone has to be honest. I'd never really paid much attention to him as mayor of London but it doesn't take very long to realise he is in it for himself at every level. The thing that does surprise me is the trajectory of the Tory party with him - they realised that they had serious vote issues with Farage on the scene, an obvious showman and bullshitter, but instead of dealing with him on a political level they went toe to toe with him on a showman level and ended up here. The obvious thought process around Boris was 'give him enough rope', but it appears that he has used that rope to lasso the whole party to him and get the better of them all.

Trump didn't even like the fact that his covid test was negative! He claimed it was negative in a "positive kind of way"
