Generally I like Sunak, but I've not read that, and if that is his opinion he's dropped in my estimation.
Crikey! Wtf is there to like?
I should say in comparison to most of the cabinet.

"And the only way to raise such significant sums is from income tax, VAT or national insurance contributions (NICs). We believe NICs is the fairest and most progressive approach." - from the horse's mouth.
If that is his actual opinion and not just a PR push from the government then I do not trust that man to be in charge of the Treasury.
Of course it's not his actual opinion. Progressive?

Conservatives looking after the well off by burdening the poor whilst simultaneously convincing the less well off that they are the party of the people!
From the MP John Trickett
Quote:This is Boris Johnson’s poll tax
• Uxbridge houses, in the PM’s seat, of £500,000, have £410,000 of inheritance protected.
• Hemsworth houses in my seat of £130,000 will leave just £44,000 protected.

Sadly though, too many working class buy the bullshit, and defend the Tories more than the people the Tory Party actually seek to help.
But, but Corbyn. But, but Starmer. But, but, he's trying his best.

I would have thought those who have suddenly become the champions of the working class on here would be more vocal in their condemnation of a tax that disproportionately affects the hard working average man or woman in the street. Perhaps if it was proposed by a different colour scarf it would be more of a problem?

The poll tax was a poll tax on the poor in the first instance, bit reductive

I prefer the Daily Telegraph approach of "Poll Tax 2.0"
