Our best player on his day. Javelin.

He is carrying an injury.

He’s our best player that is low on confidence and overdoing all his play in order to make stuff happen. It’s not happening for him at the moment.

He doesn’t help the balance, when on the left as he negates the CF and he is a typical moody winger who thinks he’s better than everyone else ( he probably is) and he is maybe a bitch to coach. I would swap him for Fellows all day, but not for Grant, SIJ etc.

I also think (and he wouldn’t be alone, even Townsend and the now sacred Furlong and Barts were the same) that he’s a better player when Grant and/or Jed (and previously Grady or Fellows) were fit. If he’s carrying a knock fair be it, but considering he couldn’t get a game after his big-money (for us, at least) move but responded brilliantly tells you all you need to know. ALL players benefit from genuine competition for their place.
He was also totally played completely out of position not too long ago, which didn’t help. Not at his best right now, but he wouldn’t be the first nor last wide man to lose form due to a new boss. We’d all written Grant off to the point of Welsh exile at one point; now we’re all gutted he isn’t available. MJ for me remains one of our best assets. He’s long overdue a poor game or two. And today, that’s quite forgivable.

It's not his fault he did his pubis bone. He's not known as top shagger for nothing.
Maybe he requires some kind of sterilisation to hit top form consistently.

Like with Price, we look to these players to deliver everything good and then complain when they make poor decisions or don't execute well when trying to make things happen. MJ is so far down our list of problems, we'll soon realise this next season once he's popped off to Sheffield United for £2.50.

That being said, my old dear (who to be fair to her was there that day to see us last lift the cup) quite fancies him.

I'm a fan of Mikey but, if he is low on confidence, the best thing for him, and the team, to do is keep things simple. Pass the ball and run for the return pass. Let the ball do the work, as the saying goes. |
