Another thing that's never mentioned by the 'ban the BBC' bellwhiffs is the importance of Bitesize for young people.

As a working class kid from Bilston who couldn't afford to pay for GCSE revision guides, let alone a private tutor, it was a godsend.

I find a hatred of the BBC is normally a harbinger of bad opinions.

There's certainly parts of it that is very rotten and needs to be sorted out, but the vast majority of the output is brilliant.

Agreed. Also - in a right-wing dominated MSM - just like the Grauniad there are very few times in history their presence/relevance could not be more important than it is now. Are they perfect, no, but compared to the others…

They’ve been badly let down by allowing some over-important wrong ‘uns get away with too much; too often, for sure. But a BBC-less media is one step closer to overall control of an industry by powers-that-be who have some very dodgy interests backing them.

You started it, you whopper.

Currently watching the Canadians beat the Czechs at Ice Hockey.

Couldn't give a shit about the politics of it all, tbh. But it is what it is. I don't particularly like the BBC, but like everything it has some good, but some bad, I spose.

I only asked why Smile

Ultimately does Sky or similar offer better value for money? Not in my opinion.

The BBC is "must-listening" for Woman's Hour alone.

Even if you don't identify as a 60 minute period of time.
