I really dislike this thread. Mr P is perfectly capable of holding his own, but what’s happening here isn’t a debate it’s an obvious attempt to bully a contributor off the board. It’s an unpleasant, unfunny pile-on. I’ve been on the receiving end of this same treatment because my views on the war in Gaza don’t line up with the board's orthodoxy. It’s no surprise who kicked it off: the self-appointed Auschwitz whisperer who still behaves like he’s stuck in some petty, sneering student politics clique. I value Mr P’s political and economic contributions. They actually make me think, something one or two on here might want to try... Mr tGd do fuck off

In fairness to Ponty's point I agree (apart from the bit at the end). I was going to post something like this a few weeks ago. I've noticed over the last few months of this year that there has been a real nasty approach to any debate where there is a shutdown if someone has a different view by ridicule, unassociated commentary and general pile on. At a time when I've had a lot going on I haven't had the energy or time to argue with some of the stupidness but it has appeared more recently than ever before.

As Ponty says, Proth is the last person that needs sticking up for as he can hold his own but what I've seen is unpleasant personal attacks rather than debating the points. And it isn't just Proth we're talking about here, BJ and Jacko are both people that I disagree with strongly on some subjects, but some of the personal abuse gets a bit much. There are a number of threads where I've thought what is the point in trying because it is becoming a closed shop.

As we head into another year of who knows what lets just take a step back and try and debate properly for a change.

I don’t recall ever being part of a clique on here or the main board, I’ve been threatened with violence, had very personal criticism aimed at me and my family and had one of my posts literally doctored by a former poster. I don’t recall this fluffy bunny messageboard that existed a few months ago, where we all discussed things rationally and in a convivial manner. Maybe we should but it hasn’t happened since its inception.

Still it’s a bit boring at the moment, with Starmer leading the country to a Reform victory at worst and a hung parliament at best so we may as well naval gaze…

Can't have happened then Dekka. Couple of posters, with different views on subjects, call it out and you haven't seen it so we must be wrong then. As you were.

Ah, I see the morality police are busy today. It's more important to listen and respect than call out, ridicule or bully people with pro-genocidal and racist opinions, is it now, lads?

GTF.

Loffin, morality police, spin it how you like CC. It gets a bit shite on here at times and puts people off posting - Call people out for their views by all means but the repetitiveness of some of the shite posted is unnecessary.
