The managerial shortlist
Could you imagine a foreign coach coming to someone like Man Utd or Chelsea and failing to get a work permit? Me neither

10 days ago, I’m willing to bet that only a very small handful of Albion fans even knew who Raphael Wicky was. Now, because his prospective assistant turned down the move and collapsed the deal, I’ve seen some of our ‘fans’ comparing Patel to Lai and saying that Nestor isn’t who he says he is, should leave the club, etc. Then you have the conspiracy theorists saying there must be more to it and it’s all the club’s fault.

Again, this is all because of a bloke none of us knew little more than a week ago no longer joining the club.

Please can someone reassure me that these people are little more than a vocal minority of our fanbase and that the rest of us still have some perspective?

The sun will rise tomorrow, West Bromwich Albion will still exist and, sooner or later, we will appoint a new head coach following a well-run, in-depth recruitment process.

Everything that I have seen in here seems to be the usual piss taking. Don't know what other sites you've been been looking at. You get a better class of loon in here.

Which is fair. I have seen some negativity on here, but in truth the majority has been on Twitter, so I should know better…the reason I joined this site was to find the better class of loons!  Big Grin

MCW loons, mostly.

Wokey loons, according to Chunky.

It’s annoying, but the dust has settled and what will be will be. We are still in a decent League position.

Aren’t work permits usually decided based on the candidate’s experience, salary and the impact of the role? I imagine United fishing on a much more expensive pool may help.

Like complaining someone coming to run a Londis in Birmingham didn’t get a work permit yet the bloke running Tesco could!

Correct.  And it wasn’t Wicky as head coach who had the visa issue.  The criteria for an assistant coach will be much harder to meet,  and in this case it seems that it was the goalkeeping coach who had the visa problem.  The number 2 simply didn’t want to come - not a visa issue with him.

More likely to get a game out of Schumacher than Daryl Dike
