The managerial shortlist

This happens nearly every time. The ITN including Percy don’t always get it right.

Agreed, there are many things that can prevent a deal going through.

In fairness to Percy, all he said was the club were in advanced talks with him, didn't claim he was definitely coming.

While it sounds like the club is not at fault in this instance it does raise the problem that whoever they appoint now is a firm second choice. Given it has already taken almost 3 weeks it's not a great look, beyond the clubs control or not.

No place for fucking common sense, are you new here?

At no time did the club announce that it was Wicky.  Many deals with potential
managers fall down at the negotiation stage so that the eventual appointee was never the first choice.

I really don't think whoever the manager will be will care if he was first choice, or not. It's not really relevant, is it?

Percy has his links with the club, the story should have never have been signed off. As per usual with KKC the delivery is awful, but we shouldn't be leaking stories like this.

Fair point Jacko

And I was told on here that the new owners are so on the ball and meticulous, they will have been prepared for every eventuality and there are lists and lists of potential replacements in every position, from head coach, players, down to kit man.

Doesn't look like great prep to me. Said prep would need to include " likelihood of getting a deal done" section

It's gonna be Colin at this rate Big Grin

Exactly this. Who is to say that Wicky was the club's preferred choice in terms of fit? He could have been the first choice because he was seen as more cost efficient, the next manager they approach could have been their preferred target but a more expensive one.

You really can't say unless you're privy to the full facts.

In any case. First, second, 10th choice. The new manager will not care, as long as they're paid on time and have the support of the board.

The issue appears to be that Raphael Wicky was unable to assemble the backroom staff he wanted.

This was not because of any financial concerns from Albion’s end. I understand #WBA were fully behind him and the 2 staff he wanted but it’s not worked out, so the search moves on.

Looks like it was beyond our control, maybe they didnt want to relocate?

New owners should have forced them to, same shite apparently.

Pardon?  What an absurd post.

Do you mean to say that there are people living in the Alps, in front of warm fires, breathing fresh air, eating fondue and mulled wine, having a little ski now and again, who don't fancy coming to West Mids? Whatever the wages?  I dont believe it.
