If you want a sensible conversation, the argument should be that Osborne should have borrowed more money in 2010 when rates were ridiculously cheap, and invested in the infrastructure. The problem was he scarred by the £38bn black hole left by Gordon Brown.

Agree on the Osborne line, it didn’t fit ideologically though in wanting a smaller state.

Well that worked out well for him, didn't it.
My major beef is that Labour didn't present a realistic manifesto. They would still have been elected - and deserved to be so. We are now in a situation now though where they are completely rudderless, hamstrung by their own lack of policy. If they thought that an increase of 10p Higher Rate Tax would sort it, then say it. At least there would be some money in the pot to pay for the improvements they crave, and are most likely needed.
