Trump
I think the result has the potential to have a negative impact here which isn't a reason to celebrate, but it's more of a shame that the reaction from those who voted for Trump is now "cry more". I don't know why it has to be so nasty. I'm not on the left, but I didn't vote conservative last election. At no point was my reaction to be happy that others who voted were sad that the conservatives didn't win. It's just a shitty mentality.

Let's take the Will Self approach. Not everyone who voted for Trump is thick and ignorant, but all the thick and ignorant people voted for Trump.

It's a stounding that he's won, despite everything he's done and said and the Democrats need to take a long hard look at themselves. This should have been a walkover for them, up against a convicted felon, sex offender, serial proven liar and allround bad guy who they've voted out once before. A man who reacted to losing by instigating an attack on their home of democracy, a man who has told them that Democrats are the enemy within and he'll use the law against them and that people won't need to worry about voting again. Yet he still own.

Batshit crazy are the Yanks, but all the Democrats had to to do was find someone remotely electable to the US population. That was never going to be a black woman.

If Labour fuck up the next few years then we'll have our version, be it Kemi or Farage. Or just imgaine a dream team of them joining together for a right-wing bangbang for goose-stepping facists.
Trump is a Cunt

Ended up being 17 points out but latched onto by never-Trump folk like a life jacket on the Titanic. There's a clip of Rory Stewart (which with no hint of irony his own podcast has clipped up and published) doing the rounds which sums far too many people up imo, utter self delusion and wildly out of touch: Here

The Dems made a litany of missteps, and this is just off the top of my sleep deprived head, weaponising the judiciary against Trump,  he was a footnote until that mugshot; latterly hiding Biden's cognitive decline, then doubling down and proceeding with the primary, pulling him out too late, installing an unelectable candidate without any democratic process, who cant answer a question without a teleprompter, ducked interviews, giggled and freestyled her way through the softballs she did agree to take, had no track record of success or excellence in previous roles. Picking an extremely strange character as running mate. Providing no policy aside from 'Trump bad Hitler man'. Not distancing themselves from Biden's record despite his popularity rating tanking. All this against a backdrop of the network media machine providing an approx 80 percent positive narrative around her campaign, Hollywood stars and other celebrities endorsing her constantly and consistently, comfortably outspending the GOP campaign. It's failure on an epic scale. There has to be some serious introspection done because Trump has unfettered power as they also have both houses. It could be a generation before the Democrats are in a position to challenge again and it's entirely self inflicted.

Further, If you don't see this result as an absolute rejection of liberal ideologies, leftism generally and despite my disdain for the word, wokery then no lessons will be learned.

As an aside, absolutely mental we still haven't heard from her.

But to some these are important, I'm what is somehow leftist nowadays, all I want is that people can live and love who they want as they want consensually without government intervention. To make an equitable society that works for everyone. And those who determine their like of someone based on race, sexuality, gender etc to be laughed at as the throwbacks they are.

I like to think we're actually quite fair in the UK, my worry is the small group of idiots will be emboldened and grow now with the likes of Tommeh Robinson and Farage fueling them with Trumps win. In the US, that is still a big issue, more Americans than you'd like still think segregation was a positive.

Now it's time for the economic magician Trump to do his thang.

We know Elmo will get wealthier, and most likely Jeff, and the lesser know billionaire backers.

The populace? I know fuck all about the detail, but if I had a dollar of my own I know what I'd bet on.

I think the general consensus on here is that this was a primarily economic decision, with just a soupcon of mysogony, racism and desire for the American dream thrown in.

Maybe Americans defer to the rich like the Englush defer to boorish old etonian???

He must know what he's doing because he's a billionaire/speaks Latin.

Then we come back to stoopid though.

Yup.  If Trump and his weirdo army fucks up the state and economy out they go.   And everyone will pretend they weren't racist or misogynistic after all and that abortions are a ok.

It was the other Trump voters who were into that shit.

Here's the thing.

They throw the most insults, Trump did nothing but insult people, they pretend they are the ones that are strong, aren't snowflakes etc, yet they want to be the only ones throwing insults.
