Trump

Plenty of videos on youtube of holier-than-thou pastors going off on hell and brimstone rants denouncing commies (Democrats) whilst lauding trump as their God-sent saviour.                  It's jaw-droppingly bizarre and inherently funny yet what stops you in your tracks is the audience of WI-type ladies sitting eyes closed, arms raised to the heavens, devotedly repeating the pastor's words. This mixing of politics and religion is commonplace stuff now and an Americanised version of the same religious fundamentalism that trump and co. would denounce were it being practised in various hardline Islamic countries. I doubt the irony worries many of his flock.

There's more vile and dangerous rantings and preaching from other faiths around the world to worry about than these god fearing people. At least their values are relatively modern and not stuck in the stoning age etc.

Religious brainwashing is the same wherever it occurs.

'God-fearing' and 'values are relatively modern' are phrases that a number of the Jan. 6 rioters would probably apply to themselves whilst simultaneously chanting "Hang Mike Pence".

And 'stoning age' is a lovely little faux pas worth noting.

At least the Yanks keep it in house rather than spread their madness (imo) around the globe.

Or across the flatness

The closest he's come to being religious is the infamous photo-op where he held a bible upside down outside a church (without seeking permission from the church), having had peaceful protestors teargassed to clear the route for him to get there.

Oh and of course the Trump Bible that he sells grifts for $60, which has had passages removed from it that don't fit with his ethos.

bu...bu...bu...but that video that was posted says that after he does his 500 hour working week he goes to Church every Sunday!!

For now but they have already started on womens rights, abortions etc. There's no doubt in my mind the Abrahamic faiths are in varying degrees, an unforgiving lot.

The Yanks have spread their madness around the globe since the beginning of the era of cinema, despite having relatively isolationist policies for much of the time, and a population whose knowledge and comprehension of the rest of the world is minimal. Don't ever think that bad things happening socially and politically in the USA have no impact elsewhere in the world. Their influence is far greater than it deserves to be.

Your first sentence is madness in itself, BJ. American as 'world police' have been involved in numerous wars across all continents, either directly or by proxy, as well you know.

Appreciate the humour of your second comment, though.  Wink
