Unfortunately, extreme liberalism doesn't seem to be working either. 

In the western world mass immigration for lower paid jobs, changing landscapes of towns and cities, and globalisation taking away working class jobs seems to be something there's not enough attention being paid to.

As I've stated before, Americans think very differently to the way most British voters do. Even the most avid Democrat voter does not (rightly IMO) view the federal state as a benign entity. 

This is a country that still has muscle memory of having fought tyranny (us). Republicans by and large view the multi $trillion debt laden crony-Capitalist state Democrats have placed on steroids (via the laughably entitled "Inflation Reduction Act") as state tyranny and by extension there's a widely held concern that the US will end up in the control of those that hold its debt.

"The economy" and "migration" are held up as the totemic issues in this election. But scratch the surface and you'll find the American psyche underneath.

Talking about statesmanlike, he now comes out with a post 'I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!'.  This is a 78 year old man, posting like a little kid who's fallen out with a playmate. God help us all!
