Same could be said for 90% of the alternatives the Democrats could pick in fairness.

Perhaps polarising the swing vote, give them a choice between an accomplished attorney or serially (literally and morally) bankrupt felon might do the trick for those still scratching their heads. The Trump base would still vote for him if he killed all their children.

Agreed and Harris has a more than decent chance of chosen. My instinct is that Trump will edge it.
Someone could have been killed

I think you're completely wrong, but you are a Tory so....

You're entitled to your opinion. I'm not a Tory btw.

Tories sit on the left of Proth's ideaology! Big Grin

They sit left of me economically and far to the right of me socially these days. So you're half right.

Why?

Her CV looks impressive compared to Trump.

They will hang the immigration issue round her neck, and the base will lap it up. Her activism on abortion rights and gun control will also go down like a lead balloon in the states she needs to win.

The running mate  issue is indeed key, in facr critical in this race. They've just been debating it on 5Live and generally agreeing that choosing a middle aged, dynamic white male is the best option, balancing out appealing to women, the young voters and minorities with a more traditional appeal. Could work, hopefully does.

Agree with Proth, she has only an extremely narrow path to victory.

The move almost certainly loses them the rust belt states. She's also not particularly popular with the Dem voters, when she dropped out of the race in 2020 she was polling at less than 3%.

Then there's the ridiculous unburdened thing she keeps saying. She's a meme.

That said, some of the big hitters have not yet endorsed her. Obama as previously stated along with Pelosi, Schumer and Jeffries. There are clearly some reservations about queen-making and forgoing the democratic process.

Will someone save us from the persistent pessimism of the anti trump side.

It's not Trump supporters who the Democratic candidate needs to win, they are not going to change their mind. The Democrats need to get their supporters to vote and try to win over independent voters.

If that's not enough, then the American people will have sealed their own fate.

She was also a cop and abortion seems to be an issue that harms Republicans more than Democrats, see the last set of midterms.

... and my bet is that trump will say he's won it whatever the result.
The USA electorate baffles me!

The yanks voting a woman in as pres, I really can't see that happening. They're a strange lot over there.

Trumps 'miraculous' assassination survival, and running against a woman... I think it's his to lose.

I'm just bewildered at how the Democrats have sat there allowing Biden to cause great harm as he deteriorates.
It's a relief that he's stepping down as his gaffes lately have made uncomfortable viewing, but simply if ever there was a time for a straight fairly conservative white guy to run for them this is it.
America has real race problems, hard to stomach, and Trump's pathway all along has act like a thick red neck and attract the votes of the disaffected. It's been a great strategy, but it shows how messed up that country is. Vote for someone corrupt with no morals and somehow think God is looking out for him- you couldn't make up how barmy they all are and they love there guns too!
I just hope the better America, that has given the world so much, will come out in force to support the Democrats. I don't think we need that Trump sideshow again.

I think too much is being made of the need to challenge Trump on his own turf. For every Trump devotee there's a voter who will never vote for him.

The swing voters in the US do not want an ultra-conservative Democrat nominee, they want a capable government. Removing Biden should move the dial on the Democrat's perceived competence and Harris now has a lot of work to do to remind the US electorate that they've actually done a bloody good job over the last 4 years and that Trump's claims are sheer nonsense.

I do concede a nice, white, middle america family man senator would be a very sensible running mate to offset the concerns many voters will have when it comes to voting for a black, female president.

People try and take pop shots at Trump in the media or socials, or this dump at every chance they get. However, on hearing about Biden quiting and Kamala running against him instead, he said "Biden has just made the election easier for the Democrats to lose". Which I agree with.
