Have a finish time in mind?

With a bit of luck, if I make it through the Bham HM unscathed I'll be putting in for a marathon this autumn.

Good luck!

I'm guessing you're nearing the end of training now? How far have you gone up to?

I've been fairly consistent with 2-3 10ks a week until last week where work and a stag do got in the way. Played 5 a side on the stag which isn't a completely different type of fitness I'm used to, hurt in places I'd forgotten about! Nightmare week of work this and next, hopefully get out this weekend at some point and then back on track towards the end of next week.
In the form of his life.

Gonna knock out a quick 5k on the treadmill at lunch.

I absolutely hate treadmill running, just me on a machine in front of a massive mirror so I can just watch myself jiggling.

I did a 20miler on Sunday and will get up to 22 in a couple weeks before tapering. I run with a club so am able to learn and train from some more experienced marathon runners so it’s going well. I ran the Hampton Court half last week in 1hr 38 so I hope to be under 4 hours for Manchester.

Treadmill can be an absolute godsend given what you've said in your earlier post about lacking time and energy. I've currently got one on order for the garage, will certainly help out on those days where it's freezing cold or where I'm pushed for time.

Double it and add fifteen minutes is the old addage. I reckon you'll go under 3h40.

We've got a little gym in the basement of our building, nothing too exciting just a couple of treadmills, bikes, weights, etc but it makes it easy to do a quick workout over lunch when you're WFH. Half an hour on the bike or treadmill, then 15-20 minsr on the weights and you're back.

I'm usually in the office up in the city once or twice a week and try to get out along the Thames at least once a week.

There's definitely a place for treadmills, they seem to get a lot of stick from people online who are serious about running. An old boss of mine was a 2h20 marathon runner and he did all of his training on a treadmill. Really useful for recovery runs and sessions where you're trying to hit a specific pace.

Still, if you've got the option of a nice trot along the Thames I don't blame you.

Think this was the worst part for me, training up to 20-21 miles. Would often get up early on a Saturday morning, eat my porridge (I fucking hate the stuff!) then run 20 or so miles and be back for lunch. Was absolutely fugged for the rest of the day and could barely move off the sofa, much to Lady D's annoyance.

What I did used to enjoy though was running home after work, would start at Westminster tube and run all the way along the Thames back to Charlton. Was about 13-14 miles and a brilliant run.

Great thing Central London is the number of bridges over the river so you can tailor your distance depending on mood. I usually do loop from Tower Bridge to either Southwark or Westminster depending on mood.

Dodging tourists is a pain in the arse though!
