We weren’t self sustaining, we relied completely on Prem TV money.
I think by “self sustaining” meant without having to inject debt or equity. Prem TV money is ordinary revenue
Exactly. We always planned for our fall from the Orem and the subsequent loss of Prem money/parachute payments.
We only moved away from that in Peace's last season when he knew the sale was going through.
What was the plan once the parachute payments had run out? Our income stream wasn’t anywhere near enough to make us self sufficient over a sustained period. Our level of self sustainability would lead to relegation and playing kids and or journey men like the 90s.
We never gave out daft contracts, we had saleable assets, and had an academy primed to sustain us through a tricky transition if the worst was to happen.
Fast forward a few years. We had an ageing squad on long deals. We over spent on fees. Our academy got stripped by the fishy lot because the hierarchy only cared about immediate and instant promotion to paper over the fuck up they had created.
Peace/Jenkins, although it would have hurt them, would never have left us in the position we are in now financially.

The latest loan gives us the cash to pay the wages, but it's completely unsustainable.
Talking of lights, did you notice how many floodlights were out yesterday? We haven't spent a penny in maintaining the ground in years.

It was unsustainable. Barring a totally unforeseen disaster, it isn’t now.

I have raised this with one of the ground staff who said he would pass the information on but it still hasn’t been dealt with .The pylon on the corner of Halfords lane and Birmingham Road had a partial failure against Preston last season and it has yet to be addressed .

All part of King Carlos' Grand Plan. Play in the dark, harder to mark. Taps nose.
