The point has been made by plenty of others elsewhere, but it seems almost every time Brits travel to Europe for an away match (club or country), there’s some sort of trouble caused by the local ‘fans’, whether that be violence or racism. Even local police have a tendency to be very heavy handed. In any case, if two away fans were stabbed in the UK, it would rightly make all the front pages and there’d be questions about serious sanctions for the club and perhaps the country.
Now, I know it did used to be the other way around pre-90s/00s, and I’m not trying to make Brits abroad out as saints. But, from my POV, we are one of the most tolerant countries in the world (opinion polling backs that up) and it’s a shame that other European countries don’t follow suit.
He’s gorra gew, Franksy!

All this is a far cry from our part-time Smethwick End drummer and the 16yr olds who spend more time making tik-toks than making noise.
Although i'm sure i read somewhere that we are not allowed 'tifos' due to some jobsworth declaring them a fire risk. |
