Maitland-Niles

I’m not seeing enough from him. Seeing he’s being mentioned as a player looking to get into the England squad and has caps already to his name, I just can’t see it.

Felt he needed to be subbed last couple of games now or at least play him somewhere to show he can be effective.

Whenever he goes into more of a wide area then he looks good like at Burnley but centre midfield he hasn’t got the creativity and his involvement is not enough. The lad has got speed and I can see now why Arsenal see him as a full back. The point is don’t let the player dictate where he’s going to play,it’s a team game not an individual game.

There is definitely a player there, no doubt surrounded by the right players he would look a lot better.

He has everything but just doesn’t dominate and put his mark on the game enough. Contrast this with Kieran Richardson’s impact

Maybe because I’ve been watching Sawyers and Livermore plod around for 2 years, my standards aren’t very high, but I think he’s been good. Lots of energy and enthusiasm. Needs to improve his final ball but that’s why he’s with us.

He signed with an understanding that he could play centre midfield. I'm not sure how good an idea that was, because we don't need AMN and Gallagher there if we're to get the best out of Pereira. Otherwise we can only get Diangana, Robinson or Grant involved by leaving Pereira out. AMN might strengthen us at full back, wing back or wide midfield.

This is where Allardyce is in the usual "no plan B" trap. It isn't working how he hoped and he seems to have run out of ideas. Roy H was accused of the same at times when he was with us, similarly Pulis. And it was the downfall of Bilic in the end. Do any of us work in jobs where we just keep doing the same thing even if it's going wrong?

AMN looks much better out wide, and believe he earned his England caps whilst playing fullback/wingback.

He may prefer playing centrally but he’s just not as effective there.

If he wants to play for England then he needs to focus on what he is presumably good at - being a full back. Never a centre midfielder

He should have be playing wide with Pereira through the middle - that’s what happened after half time yesterday & we then looked brighter until the substitution (then despite the criticism of Pereira we predictably got worse when he got taken off)

It’s truly baffling that in the absence of goals or even much goal threat Alladyce hasn’t played Pereira as a second striker or really tried much different

Maitland-Niles looks much better out wide, but doubly damaging as takes our most creative player out of his best position

And not sure what Robinson has done not to get a single minute on the pitch either.

Really strange management given the lack of goals & would also say Alladyce’s substitutions (when we’ve needed a goal) have always made that less likely

It would appear that the plan is not to actually win games but not to lose them too badly
