The number of people who write off new players before they've even kicked a ball for us is nauseating frankly. Give them a chance FFS. The transfer window's closed now, so this group of players is it for the remainder of the season. Is it better to try to get behind them or try to drag them down in a whirlpool of whinging and despondency?
Absolutely spot on.

Yes lets at least give these new guys a chance before slagging them and the club off. Fact is we've got virtually nothing to spend this window so bringing in a few young players on I expect low wages was the only option anyway.

Spot on. I wonder if the same people moaning we haven't signed experience are the ones who slagged off Albrighton, Holgate etc and cheered on Harvey Barnes.

I'm not sure what anyone expected today. If these young fellas can liven up our midfield it can only help.
What bothers me more is something we were never going to fix in this window - the absolute lack of quality, discipline and spirit in our defence. Signing Phillips and Mepham should have settled us down for a couple of seasons at least. Their lack of competence and professionalism was a huge part of Mason's problem. Now they can't or won't work in Ramsay's system.
If Eric keeps picking Taylor because he believes he needs a left-footer there, then we are in deep shit, no matter how many goals we score.

It’s not us that needs to give them a chance, it’s Ramsay. He’s got to play them for us to judge them and that’s my concern. Think the Villa lad will get minutes, not so sure about the other one.
Add to that the fact we’ve had Bostock on the bench all season and barely getting a kick and I think a bit of fan frustration is justified.

Totally agree Ches. These three players will be on decent wages, and have enough experience to know what they're doing. They should be leading by example and organising everything around and in front of them.
I appreciate that they're struggling for confidence, but the lack of doing the basics is a massive concern.

I really hope they get plenty of game time. More senior players have let us down time and again.

I really hope they get plenty of game time. More senior players have let us down time and again. They simply have to. What we have simply isn’t good enough. Given that the back 3 has to contain Phillips, Mepham and or Taylor, we have to get the ball up the other end of the pitch. Trouble is Ramsay wants the other team to have possession so these 2 will likely spend most of their time in our half.
If these signings are to matter, they need to be given the proper opportunity, in their preferred positions in a decent attacking formation. What’s the chances of that?

Spot on. Therein lies the problem. I said this the other day. We need to concentrate on attacking teams as our defence is so porous yet we seemingly have a manager that doesn't want to go on the front foot.
I'd give him the Stoke game to see a marked change of approach and intent. If it's what we've seen in his 4 games so far and the result is either a draw or defeat then I'd sack him. We don't have time to waste.

This exactly. Phillips and Mepham should be up to the job. If they aren't I would've liked to see a midfield leader signed to play just in front of them. Taylor, I've given up on. If we insist on this surrendering possession tactic I'd suggest we are only a matter of time. each game before we're picking the ball out of our net. To play Ramsays preferred system he needs players he can rely on, he needs to convert our current cbs into being just that, or he needs to adapt the system to what we do have for now.
