A fast ball carrying, dribbling forward.
A wingback, ideally RWB.
Less concerned with CM if he's going to select 5 attacking players not 4.
We need a GK Lurker… Josh has potential but is making too many errors and Wildsmith should be released.
Agreed. An experienced head who could marshall the backline is very much needed.
Only ones I could think of would be Heaton or Begovic, if a short term deal or loan could be worked for all parties.
Both would do the job imo.
Good shout!! This feels like a big window even though we know the cupboard is bare.

Post shot xG v Goals Conceded/90(PSxG+/-)
Griffiths: -0.18
Wildsmith: -0.40
I definitely wouldn't argue against an older, cheap, stop gap keeper being signed and Wildshit getting binned off.
However, much like I believe our poor decision-making and performance form our defenders has been down to coaching, I took feel like that would be the same for Griffiths. His shot stopping data from all his loans has been top, so this year has been an anomaly.

Totally agree.
It's more to take some pressure off him if he struggles for a couple of games.

His shot stopping has been at a lower level against players whose finishing is inferior to those of the Championship.

Callum can clearly play anywhere really but is prob better more advanced or at least with some license to run. He is still our best left back
For sure George Campbell is never a right back
Just defending this bored's impeccable reputation for FACTS by pointing out that Charlie Taylor played just 8 league games out of 38 for Soton last season. He certainly didn't relegate them.

So in one of the worst teams in Premier League history he could only muster 8 appearances
Regards transfers I remain completely comfortable with Josh Griffiths. We need a RWB if we're to continue the Minnesota model unless Grant can be converted. MJ definitely won't.
I'd try and get a loan in who plays an attacking midfield role. Harvey Elliott is well out of reach, but in that mould.
Dream signing, pacy left footed centre back.

I’d sign a right back and a midfielder.
We need a mobile midfielder who can break up play and also get forward quickly.
Mowatt is too slow to play in a quick counter attacking team and I think he’ll be out a while with his injury.

I worry about our lack of transfer strategy from last summer and how it plays into the coming couple of windows.
For all the noise Nestor made of game models and getting his man (Mason) there seemed to be absolutely no joined up thinking between the players we were bringing in and the way the manager wanted to play. Tough to tell if this was more down to Mason not having a clue what he wanted to do, or Nestor panicking under PSR and going for quantity over quality.
My big hope is that with Ramsay, who seems to have a very clear set of principles behind how he wants to play that recruitment can really hone in on a specific profile of player that will come into our team and improve it. This will be important as we've got Dike, Maja, Grant (I'd offer another year) and Wallace all out of contract in the summer. I wouldn't at all be surprised if MJ was subject to interest again too. Unlike last summer we'll need to be crystal clear on what we need to play the way Ramsay wants.
As for January, I don't think all is lost with Griffiths and the centre of defence. It needs time under a coach who has half a clue on how to organise a defence, they also need a run of games in what Ramsay thinks is his preferred set up. We've all watched nearly 30 games this season and I couldn't tell you what our best combination is. So how is Ramsay meant to know in a week?
I think a RWB is aust, anything else is a bonus. I'd not be sending SIJ back to Villa now either as we've seen promise when he plays in his actual position (funny that).

If finances are as tight as suggested, rather than panic buy I would stick with what we have. There are enough teams within touching distance to also get dragged into the battle. If Ramsay can't cobble a better defence together from all the CBs we have then we're doomed anyway. I firmly believe he will sort some shape at the back and I also think this will solve the goalkeeper situation. We conceded 3 t'other night purely down to non challenges and poor defending.
