We got 7 points from the first three games. We then sold Fellows and Furlong (often our captain).

Since then, Albion have averaged 1.04 points per game. If this continues, we will end up with 51-52 points. This is very close to the 50 point mark that keeps you safe from relegation.

I am not convinced that a new manager is going to change that average. Yes, we may eventually pick up points away, but we will lose points at home.

We need some new players. It is now unlikely we will get 2 loan signings in until the end of Jan, by then, there will only be 16 games left to play.

I don't trust the hierarchy to make the correct decision. They messed up their first appointment after CC by wasting time with someone who was not available and then appointing Tony Mowbray--which I thought at the time was likely to be a mistake. Which it was. Then they decided to hire a rookie manager for a season, which they have now acknowledged, was all about staying up in order too ensure financial regulations. This was a mistake. Now they have sacked a manager during the transfer window. They should have done this 4-weeks ago. Yet another mistake.

They have had 3 important decisions to make, all of them have been wrong. I don't trust whoever makes the decision to make the right decision. I very much hope I'm wrong.

Am I missing something, where has the club acknowledged that survival was the aim this season?

At the moment I’m not too worried, our performances have been generally better than our results, and conservatively we ought to have 6-7 more than we do, however the sheer number of missed opportunities and errors we’ve been making have cost us, and ultimately cost Mason his job.

I don’t expect a sudden charge up the league under a new boss, but provided we get someone who can organise the defence, put a little confidence into the players and give them a game plan that compensates more for our shortcomings we will pick up a few more points IMO.

If the new bloke doesn’t own a black cat, walk under ladders or break mirrors, that should be worth a few points. I presume that was Mason’s daily routine as he was unlucky bastard to be fair.

In the form of his life.
