Than the likes of Goulash hiring Bruce, who's signings were his neighbour and a player from a team his son coaches.

Funny what a group of people with a clear plan, direction and motivation to succeed can achieve.

On the pitch, in terms of our league position, it doesn't feel like we've improved a lot. If anything you could argue we've gone backwards.

But off it, it feels like we've improved massively, and the foundations are in place to achieve long-term success.

What I like about this lot is that they talk a good game (often a red flag in my mind), but they actually practice what they preach.

Haha! That's true. When they took over, with CC at the helm, I felt like we were shoe-ins for the play-offs, I don't feel that's the case anymore, and we can finish anywhere from mid-table to 5/6th. So in my mind you could argue we've gone a little backwards (not by much, mind).

Anyway, I'm really happy with where we as a club. On and off the pitch, so I wasn't meaning to come across as negative.

In fairness, we need to get the behind the scenes situation right to best position us in the long term and we're making big steps forward.

This season will be a big test in terms of how well we do on the pitch; in their first half season Bikul inherited a squad and coach that managed to get a top 6 finish, and last year their one key football decision - appointing Mowbray - essentially cost us a top 6 position, almost any other manager would have dragged that squad to a playoff spot IMO.  Let's see how Mason does this year.

Ashish Patel’s good at gettin more folks interested and turnin that into a bit o money. He’s worked all over in sport and media, bin a top bloke at Group Nine Media and VICE, and got hisself on that Forbes 30 under 30 list.

Group 9 media made a loss every year of its existence and was sold for considerably less than was invested in it and VICE went bankrupt. I'm not saying it was all his fault, obviously, but it's not a ringing endorsement of his ability to 'strategically scale the audience' and of driving 'subsequent commercial growth'

Also, look up the forbes under 30 curse

To add fuel to this fire, the company he works for on the forbes profile (not the two loss making ventures I mentioned before) endured it's second round of layoffs in November, after laying off 50% off its workforce in the February. It has also never made a profit.

here's part of the selection process for forbes 30 under 30 - "
  1. Digital Presence:
Your digital footprint, including LinkedIn, personal website, and social media, is checked to confirm your information and assess your personal brand."
If it's in their CV, it must be true. What could possibly go wrong with such rigorous fact checking. Oh, wait...

It's fairly obvious I'm not working as hard today as I should be. But, if I send 10 emails this afternoon I will have engineered a measurable 1000% increase in production from my desk - or 'mission critical micro-department' as I like to call it - in the space of only 2 minutes. And I didn't lose millions of dollars of other peoples money to do it. Beat that Ashish!

Now, what's the password for my linkedin profile...

I get that we need to boost engagement, but nothing would beat going up and establishing ourselves. How many casuals does a few wins put on the gate?
