Oh come on, now you can get arrested and thrown in jail for the C word!

But, I can't say I was that bothered about the afront to my 'freedom of speech' and my right 'to say it as it is' - I just smiled, covered it up and then once I was out of there,  uncovered it. Job done and the story wasn't even worth mentioning either that night or for the next 30 odd years. (It probably still wasn't...)

Sometimes I wonder which side is supposed to be the over-sensitive snowflake...they all seem as bad as each other.

I had one of the early Stiff records T shirts that said, If it ain't Stiff it ain't worth a fuck. I did not ever dare wear it when visiting parents.  The interesting thing about the article in the OP is she has pleaded not guilty so is risking a lot of money. I also wonder what escalated this into a court case and how many chances they have all had to put an end to it before it became "news"?

Welcome to woke Britain.

This is my difficulty - I'm not sure what you considered woke? Getting a summons for having a sweary sign, or feeling so aggrieved that you argue the toss enough about it to piss off the police?

This has always happened as you can see by the examples (What would that Stiff Records T shirt be worth now in mint condition?). You keep your mouth shut and pick your battles, or you lose. It's always been thus - especially when dealing with officials.

The difference is now when somebody is stupid enough to argue over something essentially pointless, rather than people thinking you were an idiot for escalating it, you become a clickbait hero for people who want to believe the country has gone to the dogs.

Answering my own question - £27.19 for a knock-off version - £321 for the used 1980 original!

I think my answer is being stupid enough to put the car sign on in the first place to draw attention to yourself.

I think the t-shirt is different Fuzz. You can always cover it up, as you did.

Come on, I think we are both old enough to remember some of the dodgy signs that used to be on the back of 5th hand transit vans and caravans! Along with fluffy dice, deep-pile huggy bear seat covers, stupid dukes of hazard multi-note horns and wayne and sharon sunshade film on the windscreen, they were de-rigeur in their day!

Thanks for that, I have studiously avoided doing this! TBH, It saw some action back then so you wouldn't even wash your car with it were it around still. I would love that Clash City Rockers 45 in the original sleeve again though.

Saw an Albion fan wearing that Inspiral Carpets t shirt  at  Barnsley away in 1990. Whilst queuing to get into the ground South Yorkshires finest said he'd be nicked if he didn't cover it up.
