You cannot underestimate how tough mentally it is to make it as a footballer. However, once you lose that mentality you are screwed.
We only have to look at Berahino to see that.
Dele Alli seems like his ghosts have come to haunt him. It will take some mighty mental strength and support to get him to the player he was.
If the club thinks he's worth the gamble then fair enough.
Stoke thought £13m on Berahino was worth it. What a mistake.
I certainly have way more sympathy for Alli, who despite a similar troubled background hasn't acted such a disrespectful arse.
