I should think it must be an awful experience acting as a lawyer for the defendant in a rape case; imagine having to give the poor victim a hard time in the witness box on top of everything else. But, presumption of innocence has to be observed.

Equally imagine being the defence lawyer for someone who you know is making a false allegation. It does happen, and it certainly doesn't help the real cases to be dealt with better.

If the legal system is not functioning here, there's, here's a lot of aggravating societal factors we could be tackling

Excessive drinking and drug-taking and the poor decision making and awareness of others that they often produce. Even more worryingly, the fact that many young people, especially males have been able to access Internet pornography which now usually centres around the abuse and humiliation of women. That must be giving young lads a very warped view of acceptable sexual behaviour.
