That Statham didn't get more caps than Sansom is one of the greatest travesties. And for Batson never getting picked just is outright bias.

Correct on both cou ts RS , i'm just grateful i was privileged to see them both play in their pomp for us.

At the risk of playing the age card (again)...the best I've seen was Don Howe.
Years ahead of his time. Attacking FB.
24 caps iirc when he was competing with Jimmy Armfield for the England RB place .
Everything I've seen since the 60s sadly pales somewhat compared to when we were a top team.
Sorry!
PS Statham was close.

Howe & Statham best in my lifetime by a distance, although Brendon was very good too.

Loved Doug "stud" Fraser. Remember him sorting out the allegedly "hard" Ron Harris at Stamford Bridge in the '69 cup game. The look of total fear on Harris's face when Doug went for him was one I'll never forget.

I go back to the 70's Allen team. The best I ever saw was Graham Hareby?? Potter wasn't much better.  Big Grin
