Team for the rest of the season - aj21 - 02-10-2026 Mad Max Campbell (hopefully back soon) Phillips Taylor Styles Mikey Mowatt Molomby Villa kid Price Heg If we can keep that team for the rest of the season we will be a solid team that can hopefully start scoring. If we have to rely on more than two of the following on the pitch Maja, Dike, Diakite, Imray, Gilchrist at any point then we will keep struggling. It’s mad how poor this squad is. RE: Team for the rest of the season - Johnny akes - 02-10-2026 I thought Imray post-booking and Gilchrist did ok tonight, especially as the blues’ biggest threats were operating down that side. Agree. Imray was very shaky early on but definitely improved. Gilchrist seems to have learnt how to pass to a teammate after some very poor distribution on Saturday. RE: Team for the rest of the season - Sliced - 02-10-2026 Im hesitant to put Taylor in after one good game. Personally I'd have gone for Gilchrist Phillips Campbell Styles RE: Team for the rest of the season - B12Baggie - 02-11-2026 I think give Taylor a couple of games run at centre half in a back four after tonight to see how he goes. If he plays like tonight he's there for good, if he reverts to type then have a rethink. RE: Team for the rest of the season - ericlegrisly too - 02-11-2026 "Villa kid" whilst tricksy, is a massive defensive liability. RE: Team for the rest of the season - Ted Maul - 02-11-2026 I think at homes in our more winnable games playing the likes of Imray and JJA is a must. Away from home when we want a point I'm fine with a flat back four and two deeper midfielders. RE: Team for the rest of the season - Lurker#3 - 02-11-2026 You have to be flexible. It isn't a computer game where you pick your XI best players, that's Bruceball. RE: Team for the rest of the season - ABBaggie - 02-11-2026 Thought Taylor did well last night but not convinced he’ll be the medium-term solution. Would rather see Campbell alongside Phillips once he is back fit. No need to play him at right back now that Gilchrist looks a little more settled and with Imray we have another option (with an almost opposite skill set) we can rotate as needed. I'd definitely have Campbell in when fit. He's not a spectacular player but always a steady and reliable presence. I've been quite critical of Phillips at times this season but he finally is actually looking like a much more commanding player again now. Probably the best pairing we have at the moment. |
