Gutted, but trying not to read to much into it, hoping that its beyond the clubs control rather than an oversight on their part, which would seem a bit amateurish. Fingers crossed its due to a better option becoming available, but then im very much a glass half full guy lol.

That was our brilliant system… how dare you criticise the stupidity of it Wink

Yes it is. Different owners, same old shite.

What's so embarrassing about interviewing a candidate, and whether his opinion, or ours, deciding it's not the right fit. Both parties move on. I really don't see the issue.

I'd like a manager appointed asap, but I also want a manager that is the right fit for us, wants to be here, and is 100% committed. If that takes time, so be it.

This appointment has been leaked to high heaven.

It is completely embarrassing.

It wasn’t an appointment, he didn’t get the job.

Why do we assume the fuck up is at the club’s end?

Sounds like the guy had the pen in his hand ready to sign, doubt he suddenly went “oh hang on, is it ok if my guys come too?”.

Something has clearly changed over the weekend, but it isn’t necessarily at our end.

Really can't see us paying Dyche money

Yes that could well be a factor

Yes as usual you blame the club. Who knows what happened you certainly don’t.

RE: The managerial shortlist - WorcsWBA - 01-13-2025

It's also not unusual in football for incoming managers/coaches knowing that they weren't the first choice, so I wouldn't get too hung up on that. Clubs always claim the new incumbent was their first choice, but I'm sure there are plenty more even than the ones where it's obvious. All managers/coaches understand that there are negotiations and sometimes they aren't successful - it's all part of the game.

I just hope we don't end up with someone boring and am concerned that the transfer window is ticking away with decisions having to be made on new signings (including not bringing anyone in!) without being able to involve the new head coach in a proper squad evaluation.

Don't leak it until it is done. Grossly unprofessional

Completely disagree with this evaluation. Embarrassing in the sense that a deal was all but announced in the media, absolutely. Embarrassing in the sense that the club have done something wrong, absolutely not. By the sounds of it, Wicky couldn’t get the guys he wanted to join - the club were supportive.

Even so, the meltdown I continue to see every week on social media, etc is what’s truly embarrassing. Some people seem to forget where we would be without Patel and what he has done. Even if you ignore that and focus solely on operations under Nestor - compare him with Gourlay and his predecessors during the Lai era. “Brucey, you free?”

Please can we have some perspective?

The issue appears to be that Raphael Wicky was unable to assemble the backroom staff he wanted.

This was not because of any financial concerns from Albion’s end. I understand #WBA were fully behind him and the 2 staff he wanted but it’s not worked out, so the search moves on.

Looks like it was beyond our control, maybe they didnt want to relocate?
