One thing we've learned today is that England will carry a passenger in their bowling attack until the GOAT gets his 700 wickets or does the decent thing and packs it in. 5 wickets for close on 400 runs so far in this series. It was legit to pick him for Edgbaston because of his recent record, but after that no show we should have picked a team to win. Cronyism and sentiment doesn't win Test series.

Broad always turns it on for the Ashes. Woakes had the best figures. Wood scared the pants off them. Robinson, Tongue and Potts can all watch and wonder "When do I get a chance?"

Anderson & Broad must tour India in January  Big Grin

On the pitches out there you may as well take me, especially given our empty spin cupboards

They will be Bunsens make no doubt

I see Broad going not sure on Jimmy but he’s got no plans to retire and rightly so

Currently tucking into some Crawley humble pie.

Broad’s last test he’s officially retired!!!…leaves on a high can’t see Anderson hanging around know either would be a fitting end to both if the each get fivers and rattle the Aussies out before the rain around tea time!!..

One might the other doubtful.

A tour of India a step too far for the tiring limbs.
Can see Jimmy following suit.

It's Stuart Broad's 55th six for England.

Only four players have hit more sixes for England in Tests: Ben Stokes, Kevin Pietersen, Andrew Flintoff and Ian Botham.

Solid start for the Aussies. Still a long way behind, but I've got a feeling this will be a very close chase and a potential nail biter. Some sport, this.

On a flat pitch it's certainly not a given we'll bowl them out.

Statistically the chances of Australia successfully chasing 384 are very remote, and England are the likeliest winners but weather is likely to play a massive part.

Is Wood not fit to bowl? Have I missed something here?

I think England are slight favourites, as it's obviously a big total to chase down. But I'd say only just, it's a nicely balanced Test match ATM. Australia have plenty of time to get these runs so they don't need to bat aggressively or do anything silly.

Hopefully the weather doesn't interfere and ruin what should be a fantastic climax to the match and the series.

Well, Boucher has just answered my Wood question.
