Ask those lot who is going to pay the Bill's if you cant get to work if you cant use your car .........they are not in the real world .its all good in theory but in everyday life it just will never ever happen .

You are missing the point China.

It's about re-thinking everything, not one aspect.  Electric cars per se would be pointless.   It will become where and how you choose to live together with better, more efficient public transport and better integrated.   Even that is only a small consideration in the greater scheme of things but young folk are thinking about it.

And again, How did most folk "get to work" 70 years ago?  Did they not bother because they had no prospect of possessing a car?  The car has made lifestyle choices - it doesn't mean one can't get to work.  Just less convenient to do without currently in the main.   Loads of folk use different options now. 

I know it's not easy to get your head round when you become car dependent - my wife had been since she was 17!
