"They drink coffee... They wear trainers... They have more than 1 child..." . This is the sort of bollocks Hatie Hopkins spouted in her swivel eyed rant against the protesters outside St Paul's Cathedral a few years ago: "... why are they protesting against globalisation when they drink Coffee? Eat burgers? Wear clothes? Have camping gear?"
Specious? Bollocks?

The world population has more than doubled since 1960. Double, in less than sixty years and it is set to be treble that by 2050. A threefold increase of resource consuming humans in under one hundred years.

450,000 sq Km of Amazon rainforest alone is now basically poor cow pasture. Even that will be unsuitable for grazing in just a few short years due to nutrient deficiencies and soil erosion.   All those trees no longer there to soak up atmospheric carbon. Add the methane emissions from the cattle together with the shipping around the world, in chilled juggernauts, of the meat.

Synthetic Polymers use has increased one hundred and fifty fold since 1950. They are very problematic when it comes to waste disposal and their production uses and causes serious amounts of carbon release . Carbon, which had been captured by the Earth for millions of years. Transporting said trainers and other fabrics from the other side of the world to shops here also adds carbon to the atmosphere and is the “globalisation “ which those protesting are complaining about.

So to buy and wear trainers and other polymer based fabrics in clothing is participation in the vile global trade which some appear to abhor.

So, just out of interest, which bits of globalisation do you think should be stopped? I presume you think it acceptable for couples to have three or more children, buy four or five pairs of synthetic soles footwear per year just to keep up to fashion and use oil guzzling container ships to transport them around the world. Not to mention flying in out of season fruit and vegetables.

Having said all that, The Human Race must be one of the few parasites that seems determined to kill it’s host.
