Anyone else remember this chant?  I can remember the next two lines. Just thought I’d see who else remembers

It's wings of an eagle.

Last 2 lines:
I'd fly all over the Holte End
and shit on the bastards below.

Just found this online

If I had the wings of a sparrow,
if I had the a*se of a crow,
I'd fly over Tottenham tomorrow,
And sh*t on them bast*rds below...

And this one

If I had the wings of a sparrow,
And the dirty great a*se of a crow,
I would fly over Norwich tomorrow,
And sh*t on the b*stards below, below ...

So it must have been sparrow and not eagle that we also sang

Not necessarily, other lyrics are readily available:-

Burnley

If I had the wings of an eagle,
The dirty black arse of a crow,
I'd fly over Ewood tomorrow,
And s*it on the b*stards below...

Leicester.

If I had the wings of an eagle
If I had the arse of a crow
I'd fly over Nottingham Forest
And shit on the b*stards below, BELOW!
S*it on, s*it on, s*it on the b*stards below, below!
S*it on, s*it on...

Besides which, anyone singing sparrow must be a bit thick, because even a very basic knowledge of aeronautics tells you that the wings of a sparrow couldn't possibly fly anywhere carrying the arse of a dirty great Crow.      Rolleyes

Interesting to read that some clubs sang “eagle”

Re a sparrow, I think you’ll find that was due to how how much hatred clubs had for their rivals, in that small wings would carry them there

I'd suggest it was more than Sparrow and Crow kinda rhymes as opposed to anything much deeper.

Big Grin

I am intrigued now as to whether it was sparrow or eagle.  But I didn’t pull “sparrow” out of the hat.  I also thought it was “I’d fly over Aston Villa” and not the Holte End.

I guess if we have no definitive explanation on why we are referred to as the baggies or where the “boing boing” originated, we have no chance of determining if we sang “sparrow” or “eagle”.

Depends, is this persona a twitcher?  Big Grin

I’d be fairly sure it’s Sparrow.  Not sure if Aston Villa or the Holte End or Aston Villa.  I’ve always thought it was Aston Villa.

Anyhow….  There was only two personas

1. The real me

2. Posts / threads I would write which were genuine, but written with the sole intention of pissing off the bored clique
