He’s been on the same right wing, populist down the rabbit hole journey the Tories have been on since Brexit and Johnson. The only difference is he got sacked and many of the others are keeping their heads down or too influential for Sunak to get rid of.

He was only given the chairman role because a) he was one of the rabid right wingers in the party and b) he was too thick to be dangerous to anyone, even Sunak
