BCC gets nearly £400m from business rates per year that it's allowed to retain so that's ~£800m from 2024-25 and 2025-26, surely the most common sense thing is to pressure the government to let them keep more than that over the next two years to meet the £300m? Would also be a functional model for councils up and down the country in a similar situation (I have no idea how Woking is supposed to fix the mess there, for example).

Birmingham should be surcharging Councillors for their appalling mismanagement of the Single Status issue for over 20 years. They only have themselves to blame.
