98% rejection is about as clear and coherent a message as you’ll ever get from a ballot. Good on them for saying loud and clear enough is enough. Years of erosion has come home to roost.

The government only has itself to blame letting inflation get out of control. But then I doubt many public sector workers have been calling for interest rate rises for the last 15 years either.

It's not unfair to be asking for increases commensurate with the cost of living when inflation looks baked in. Lord alone knows where the money's coming from though.

What this leads to is having people in a pivotal role in the lives of all our young people that cant just simply get on with doing their job and focus on what is in front of them and sadly the job is riddled with such fundamental distractions. You can put all the ofsteds, monitoring and interventions in the world in place.
