Wasn't that line used regularly in a TV comedy years back

The fall and rise of Reginald Perrin

Grot are due to open a store in the revamped Merry Hill.
'By the way C.J, that is a Grot ashtray you're flicking yout cigar in,  there's no bottom in it'.

Absolutely superb stuff.

Fantastic performances from the brilliant cast and still "quoted" today - CJ' "I didn't get where I am today..." and the brilliant railway excuses.

Whenever I see missing letters on corporate signs I think of Sunshine Desserts.

A real fave of mine.

The hippos. I forgot about the hippos.
That's the one!

Audrey Roberts was the typist he used to fantasise about

Excellent comedy in every way
Not a swear word used compared to the dog  shite that is Mrs Browns Boys

Are you sure? I didn’t realise it was supposed to be a comedy

The first series was shown on BBC Four earlier this year.

There are elements that wouldn't be considered PC now, but I thought it stood the test of time well.
Rossiter was such a great performer.

When it was on, I had just turned 46. The same age as Reggie in the show.

I found it fascinating as everyone seems so old, or at least come across older than I feel now!

I re-watched it all the way through and absolutely loved it.

You're right about the age aspect.

Mind you, footballers of old always looked much "more mature" than the current and more recent crop.

I'm going to have to give it another go. Never originally saw it, tried 10 minutes of the recent re run and gave up.

It was repeated on BBC1 in the early 90's

I remember it clashed with The Bill & wanted  to watch that

My granddad turned over & said watch this its funny so reluctantly did

After 30 minutes thought it was brilliant

Its not a laugh out loud comedy like Fools & Horse

More dark thought provoking so maybe not everyone would get the humour in it

Nowadays someone would probably say it 'tackles issues'

I never did watch that episode of The Bill Big Grin
