Would you look to move him on in Summer or appreciate at Championship level he’s a decent player?

Discarding a player who has been consistently one of the best midfielders in the Championship during his time there would be very foolish indeed. Most of our rivals would take him I’m sure.

True, but if he does stay and play his part, and we were to get promoted again next summer, there would have to be a completely unemotional 'Thank you for your contribution, but now it's time to move on' conversation.

Agreed, but that’s a conversation for 12 months from now.

His contract would be up too. Sawyers has 12m left to run on his deal.

Job done.

I'm not a big Sawyers fan, but TBH i think i'd like to see him alongside Okay and Gallagher. See if their hard work frees him up to get on the ball and pass it, which is what he is good at. Result doesnt really matter, but might be a useful excercise for next year.

Another weird thread. A couple of weeks ago everyone was saying "we can't play both AMN and Gallagher, Pereira needs to be central". Now people want to drop Gallagher and get Sawyers back involved?? FFS sake!

Was Gallagher really so shite yesterday? He missed a sitter for sure. He was on the ball a lot, always offering for a pass. So he gets all of the blame for our ultimate failure to create chances? Far from the finished article, but he was a real livewire in our midfield. No-one ever accused Sawyers of that.

What's the point in playing Gallagher and AMN any longer?

An extra £3million if we make 18th place.

Personally hope it's not Sawyers

Personally id move him on ,yes he is a good passer of the ball etc etc and i know he is not a DM ,but as soon as we loose possession we are effectively playing with 10 men as he doesn't close down, track runners and is unable to put a foot in a fundamental part of any midfielders game imho, even in the chump last season the amount of times players just ran past him was criminal.

I'm with you, he has no defensive attributes. Doesn't attack the opposition. No assists, No goals (apart from an own goal) what is the reason to play him. He looks good in a good side against weak teams. Basically his contribution is not what we require. Shame but we gave him the opportunity to step up but was found wanting. Time to move him on.
Spot on. It is no coincidence we became competitive when he was no longer involved.

Unless he has learned how to tackle and challenge, score and create, the chances are he will still be out of his depth regardless of which position he is in.

Robinson must be on from the start .Be told. He's not only a good finisher, he's a cocky little git, all good finishers are !

Thought this was about who would replaced AMN who can’t play because of the loan agreement, not bringing anyone in for Gallagher
