To be fair, it's not the clubs fault this one.

He demanded to leave if he wasn't going to be playing regularly, and wouldn't go on loan again. He wasn't near good enough at the time to displace the players ahead of him, though the club were certain he'd make it as a top flight player in time.

If anything, the bollock dropping was not bringing him back here when we had the chance.

Indeed, people think we should have just stockpiled every young player from the last decade in the off chance they came good... which they never would have done playing in our stiffs.

The experiences Wood got away from us made him into the player he is now.

Wood needed consistent first team football, and with Saido coming through it didn't seem likely to happen here.

I remember him best for getting chinned by Johnny Evans during the build up to one of our goals shading Utd!
