Has anyone else noticed the grand flaw in this thread?

I can't think of any bands I've totally forgotten about. For some reason.

This thread has inspired me to dig out the old iPod I had stuffed away in a draw that I haven’t listened to since the late 00’s.

There’s a lot of bands on there that were massively hyped by the NME (remember that?) but never really went anywhere. In a lot of these cases I remember them releasing really good EPs then being let down by when the album came out:

Tokyo Police Club (they were going to be the next Strokes, they weren’t)
The Drums
Good Shoes
Fear of Music (incredible EP, don’t think they ever got as far as an album)
The Bravery (one great song, shite album)
22-20’s
The Datsuns

New Fast Automatic Daffodils
Nightingales
Cud
BMX Bandits

Apparently there's a Sky Arts show about Nightingales and also one about BMX Bandits, Teenage Fanclub etc. which I was made aware of this morning.
