So I was bang on the money with what I presumed you were talking about, how it is a false equivalence and a deflection. Glad we agree, I'll take your apology in writing as it clearly is what you were referring to and I didn't need to "try again".
It is quite literally the EU being flexible with regards to budget deficits to members, the EU are entitled to do that to whomever they want based on a myriad of factors and other members are able to use their own powers in the Council and Commission to bring it up. The EU offered that exact same flexibility to the UK over air pollution regulations as the UK was an important member. Breaching internal regulations and treaties is only an issue if the EU take exception and they are flexible with members, we are a third party now and they aren't going to show that same flexibility with us anymore. It's very simple.
And, a supranational agreement within the EU is not the same thing in the slightest to an international treaty between two external parties. But I'm assuming you know this and aren't actually a moron but merely just acting in bad faith.
