Really?

I think you are completely naïve, football clubs are not benevolent societies.

Ferguson is still at the club because he has at each stage a decision has had to be made about his future, his hard work and ability has led the club to keep him on, there will be plenty of lads who the club will have, no doubt reluctantly, shown the door because they are deemed to be not up to standard.

Yep and at the very first sign, the very first second, of him getting a first team shot he wants out.

Says everything you need to know imo. If he signs then great. If he doesn't then he shouldn't be involved at any senior level at all imo.

The club have invested in him massively to help get him in this position but he's taking the piss now. If he left for another British club and we got a decent fee then fair enough. Annoying but we get rewarded.

Going abroad is just rubbing the clubs nose in it imo. It's exploiting a loophole for personal gain and not giving a thought to the club that has nurtured you for 10+ years.

In fairness he doesn’t owe the club anything really... weve not invested in him through good will, we did it because we believed we could make money out of him either through him being a successful first team player or by selling him... he doesn’t owe us anything if truth be told, so I don’t begrudge him moving on as we had the chance to give him an improved contract in the summer and avoid all this but instead didn’t feel confident in offering him an extension.

What I feel disappointed about is that he’s chasing immediate personal gain ahead of developing as a footballer which he’d be far better doing here at a club that knows him, in an area he’s comfortable and with a manager that supports him. If he doesn’t want to be part of what is one of our most exciting sides in years, and wants to chase the fast Euro abroad then he shouldn’t be any part of our set up as his head isn’t in it.

There is some shite talked about Ferguson by some bitter people. He can do what he likes, the club cast aside kids if they are good enough, he has every right to do what he wants to maximise his earnings. Yes the club have supported him but he’s got himself in this position by working hard, if the club had screwed their heads on a bit more perhaps we wouldn’t be in this position. Hopefully he signs and stays with the club but those calling him out as if he is a scumbag is really poor.

The club offered him a deal over the summer apparently. I blame the agent myself, who knows what crap he's feeding him.

However, he's one player. one with potential sure, but unless he develops into the next Cafu, I'm not sure the price the club will pay will be that heavy.
