Arf. Is that it? I’ve lost count of the times a government has announced a bonfire of regulations.
I’ve read summaries of the report and there’s no specific reference to a single regulation that was removed. Because there wasn’t one.
Grenfell is a failure of regulatory oversight and criminal negligence, and not of “deregulation”. By suggesting it is you actually absolve the guilty individuals and institutions of blame. It is the same as repeated fatal failings in health and social care - no one gets prosecuted or jailed because officials blame “systemic failings”. It’s dishonest and feeds injustice.
The prisons should have accommodated far more bankers, health administrators and social workers over the last few years. They should be joined by the client and principal architect in this matter, amongst others.
