Bit harsh some of those comments. The team have had virtually no time in the middle - essential to acclimatise to pitches that behave differently to those at home. Anderson said he’s never felt less prepared for a series.

Jimmy said he's expecting to play 3 Tests. I think they have a plan to deploy the old fellas where they can do most damage.

Burns has nowhere to hide. Like his leg stump.

Without doubt they are under prepared but it doesn’t disguise the fact it’s a very poor batting line up and they could have had all the preparation in the world and they wouldn’t have fared much better, this would have been a regular score over the last couple of years if it wasn’t for Root.

It's hard to escape the conclusion that white ball cricket offers a complete career for players and a complete financial package for the game. Where can players gain the extra skills necessary to play Test cricket?

Thank the Hundred and T20 for that, or putting players on central contract, rather than selecting a fresh team from those who actually play regular red ball county cricket, and those that are in good form/had good seasons.

I'd rather see batsmen who consistently score county runs play for England than an out of form batsman, who has rarely played the form, and can't buy a run.

The whole set up, from the saturated cricket calander, to selection policy, to prioritising white ball cricket, needs looking at. It's shambolic.

Great ball from Robinson to get that wicket.

1 hour 15 minutes in and the Aussies are 37-1 and we've mainly bowled superb all morning in completely unhelpful conditions, typical of Englands misfortune it's baking hot and no cloud cover with little swing

Stokes bowled Warner off a no ball, somehow a nick from Luberchagne didn't carry to Root, one flashed past Malans hand from Warner, typical of when things are stacked against you nothing goes for you as the Aussies could easily be 30-3 as we were

As I type Warner edges through the slips again and then plays and misses, you just know the convicts will end up 200 odd for 3 before the rains comes, we shall most likely lose this one but credit to the bowlers so far from a tough position
