You wouldn't usually be surprised if a Ryanair flight to Vilnius actually landed in Minsk and you had to get a bus - but this was pretty shocking,

The EU's (and world's) weak response to Russian aggression means that Belarus likewise has no fear of consequences - I wonder actually though if the opposition won and Lukashenko was out whether that would just lead to Russian invasion anyway, as in Ukraine. But I guess it is hard for the EU and UN to respond to aggressively as well - no knowing what Putin would do in response.

Troubling east-west relations again - feels like time is going backwards.

This happened and the Belarusian government just ignored the results, made up some new ones and Lukashenko held onto power.
